From Tijarafe to the north of the island, between the ravines of Garome to the south and Izcagua to the north, lies the municipality of Puntagorda. It covers a surface area of 31 sq. km.. and has a population of about 1,800 inhabitants. The town centre, on a sloping space between pines and almond trees, is situated at a height of 600m. a most beautiful situation, and is a very picturesque village with beautiful pine-woods that cover large stretches of land, its white houses stand out against the rich vegetation with myrtle and heather, creating an unparalleled spectacle when all the almond trees are in bloom.
Almonds, fruit, cereals, as well as bananas, avocados and flowers form the main produce of this land, with its climate dry and sunny, with heavy rainfall in winter.
