Here is La Palma

This is La Palma
or Isla Bonita, the Pretty Island as it is better known, and who can possibly argue with that? Certainly those who have been fortunate enough to explore the place won’t, of that I am certain.

La Palma in the Canaries, is little known to many English folk, most of whom think of Tenerife or Lanzarotte at the mention of the Canary Isles, but they are missing out on so much. It is an island apart from the rest in so many ways, it's own micro-climate, it's wonderful temperate clime throughout the whole winter, and the outstanding variation of scenery and landscapes, from awe-inspiring rocky mountainous regions to the soft green inner island scenery , hidden away in the valleys that need only a little walking to find, you would be well rewarded for it too. A little of this is shown on our website.

Back-drop to Santa Cruz de la Palma

In the towns you will find architecture of many years ago, a wonderful mixture of Spanish, Italian, and English influences, and if you read some of the island history you will find it fascinating….

The lovely old building is the Island Cabildo.

Santa Cruz is the Capital town of La Palma, where is the busy airport, coping with international and local inter-island flights. There are a host of shops, major international Banks, cafes and restaurants, the main Post office etc.

A rooftop view over Santa Cruz

Here is the main coast road, the Maritima, looking towards the busy Port into which Cruise liners arrive several times a week, and where the tall Ships Races call.

Some-times an interesting mix of old and modern shipping seen at its’ best.

Puntallana is a lovely old village only five miles from Santa Cruz, on the slopes of Montan Loral with its own small super-market and library, a Tourist advice office and on the doorstep of the hiking paths. There are old cottages available for rental, apartments for sale in a wonderful position overlooking the sea.

Car hire is easy, taxis are abundant, but if you want to leave it to some-one else to take the strain, there is a good regular and comfy coach service from Puntallana, five minutes walk from the apartments, throughout the whole island.

Puntallana Square as it was until December 2004 when the Council decided to tear it up and rebuild it, we are told it will be better than ever and is part of a big redevelopment of the whole Village, making it more attractive with better amenities for residents as well as visitors.
